Part Time Medical Transportation Driver/Friendly Visitor – Open Until Filled
(Life Long Care and Aging at Home Programs)
STATUS: Contract, Part Time, 25 hours/week
SALARY: $24,245 – $32,799 plus 4% vacation pay
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position is accountable to the Executive Director.
PURPOSE: This position provides medical transportation for the elderly, and chronically ill clients locally and out of town within a 1,000 km radius round trip three days/week and will provide friendly visiting/companionship to Indigenous seniors/elders 55 years of age and older who present with complex care needs and for those seniors who are aging with general wellness two days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license;
- Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately, including ability to read and interpret road signs in English;
- Minimum 3 years driving experience and drivers abstract updated annually;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Ability to establish effective professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and upper level staff and employees;
- Ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports;
- Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s);
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and ability to perform minor vehicle repairs;
- Skilled in reasoning skills to interpret policies and procedures, maps, and route directions;
- Experience working with seniors, and transporting persons with disabilities;
- Current CPR & first aid certification and ability to administer First Aid and CPR;
- Clean, courteous, friendly, and respectful;
- Experience working with Indigenous people an asset;
- Ability to hold information in the strictest confidence;
- Ability to work long hours for longer medical trips

CASUAL/RELIEF Suswin Village Transitional House (SVTH) Night Client Care Worker
STATUS: part time, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, as needed. 4-12 hour shifts
SALARY: $25.15/hr plus 4% vacation pay
PURPOSE: The CASUAL/RELIEF Night Client Care Worker will work in partnership with members of the client care team to provide support and overnight care and security of clients and the SVTH. The SVTH Night Client Care Worker’s responsibilities are to ensure clients are following program and facility rules and procedures in a consistent manner. The Suswin Village Transitional House is a 24 hour/7days per week facility for homeless males.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The CASUAL/RELIEF Night Client Care Worker reports to the SVTH Case Manager and is ultimately accountable to the Executive Director of the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma in Social Worker/Social Service Worker and/or related field or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience providing supportive services to homeless individuals highly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of severe mental, physical health and substance abuse issues and symptoms
- Excellent interpersonal and crisis intervention skills with a ‘can do’ and flexible attitude
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain professional conduct, attitude and appearance at all times
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture

Indigenous Mental Health & Wellness Coordinator
Status: Full time, permanent
Accountability: Executive Director
Salary Range: $57,330 – $77,568/year
Summary: The Indigenous Mental Health and Wellness Program Coordinator will be responsible for counselling Indigenous individuals in the urban area of North Bay who are seeking assistance with drug and/or alcohol addictions. The Indigenous Mental Health and Wellness Program Coordinator will service both youth and adults through one-to-one and group counselling. Services include education and prevention programs, referral to treatment programs, and aftercare programs. The Indigenous Mental Health and Wellness Program Coordinator will act as an intake worker and/or referrer accordingly if the case is not within assigned jurisdiction. Whenever possible, the Indigenous Mental Health and Wellness Program Coordinator will work with other North Bay Indian Friendship Centre (NBIFC) programs or other agencies to determine and fulfill the short and long-term needs of Indigenous clientele.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field or minimum three (3) years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of urban Indigenous issues and needs, and experience working with urban Indigenous individuals
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Crisis Intervention Training, and First Aid certificates are essential
- Mental Health First Aid is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Global Appraisal of Individual Needs – Short Screener (GAIN-SS) systems
- Knowledge of the inner-workings of the local justice system
- Experience in compiling and delivering succinct reports in a timely manner
- Experience in facilitating programming from development to delivery
- Strong advocacy and/or lobbying skills

Human Resources Assistant

Position Overview:
The Human Resource Assistant (HRA) will play a key role in supporting the HR functions at the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. This individual will be responsible for assisting with a variety of human resources tasks, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and maintaining employee records. The Human Resource Assistant (HRA) will work closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that the organization is compliant with labor laws, respectful of Indigenous cultural practices, and fosters an inclusive, positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an HR or administrative role, preferably in a non-profit or Indigenous-focused organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, communities, and the unique challenges faced by Indigenous peoples.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams.
- Familiarity with employment laws, human resources practices, and confidentiality requirements in Ontario and Canada.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HR software, and database management systems.

Indigenous Youth Life Promotion Program Worker
Status: Full time, permanent

Salary Range: $45,773-$61,916 annually
Summary: The Indigenous Youth Life Promotion Program is founded on principles of self-determination and cultural reclamation. The Indigenous Youth Life Promotion program goal is to support the holistic development and provide a continuum of care services for youth at-risk, as well as addressing their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual health and well-being. The Indigenous Youth Life Promotion Program Worker will ensure the effective delivery of program objectives such that the needs of youth (ages 13-24) are met in a timely and culturally sensitive manner.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Child and Youth work or a combination of equivalent and relevant education
- Minimum of three (3) years demonstrated and related work experience with children and youth
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, history and the impacts of colonization with a particular emphasis on child, family, and community wellbeing
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach tools
- Knowledge of traditional teachings, particularly in the areas of water and land-based activities, traditional medicines, and language reclamation and food education.
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with child welfare agencies in Ontario.
- Strong understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and the Ontario’s Children’s Aid Society, with particular emphasis of impact on Indigenous families.
