SUMMARY:
The Indigenous Healing & Wellness Coordinator shall ensure that the healing and wellness needs of the Indigenous community are addressed by implementing the Indigenous Healing and Wellness Strategy at the local level in order to reduce family violence, promote healthy lifestyles, and culture-based programming and healing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Knowledge of Indigenous culture and realities of urban Indigenous people
•Minimum 2 years education or experience in the field of social services
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Good computer skills
•Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision
•Good organizational and file management skills
•Ability to work flexible hours
•Current First Aid CPR certificate or willing to attain within a specified timeframe
•Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License, clean drivers’ abstract and access to a reliable vehicle

PART TIME SEVEN STONES LEARNING CENTRE ASSISTANT
STATUS: Part time (25 hours per week), Monday to Friday
SALARY: $14,508 – $19,630/year
POSITION: The Seven Stones Learning Centre Assistant will support and assist the Indigenous Alternative Secondary School Education (IASSE) Coordinator with administrative support and tasks required to support the Indigenous Alternative Secondary School Education Program.
The Indigenous Alternative Secondary School Education (IASSE) Program is for urban Indigenous, and non-Indigenous people to have the opportunity to earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma in a safe and culturally appropriate atmosphere. The program is based on individualized, independent courses and has a unique style of programming where students can complete their high school diploma at their own pace while infusing Indigenous values and beliefs into the entire curriculum. The program also chooses project and activities designed with Indigenous heritage and cultural teachings in mind.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience and knowledge of administrative support duties
• Experience preparing nutritious snacks/meals for students, including food preparation and shopping
• Knowledge of Indigenous traditional teachings of land-based activities, traditional medicines, language reclamation and food education.
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous people, their culture, history, and traditions
• Demonstrated capacity to work efficiently and collaboratively in a structured environment
• Good decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills and ability to take initiative
• Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport

Indigenous Prenatal Nutrition/Family Support Assistant

Position Summary:
The Indigenous Prenatal Nutrition/Family Support Program Assistant will be responsible for delivering programming according to the goals of both the Prenatal Nutrition program and the Family Support program. The Indigenous Prenatal Nutrition/Family Support Program Assistant will be under the supervision and direction of the Prenatal Nutrition Worker and the Family Support Worker and is ultimately responsible to the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Early Childhood Education and/or Social Services Diploma or related relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture
• Experience working with urban Indigenous individuals, families and children
• Experience in facilitating workshops and programming from development to delivery
• Excellent communication skills with staff, families and community members
• Maintains confidentiality and a professional demeanor
• Knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Effect, solvent abuse and family dysfunction.

Indigenous Children’s Wellness Worker

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Indigenous Children’s Wellness Worker is accountable to the Executive Director.
OVERVIEW: The Indigenous Children’s Wellness (ICW) Worker promotes positive development and positive life choices of urban Indigenous children ages 7-14 years who have experienced violence. The ICW program is grounded in cultural traditions providing a sense of belonging and pride in each individual. The program offers a variety of strategies such as one-to-one activities, group activities and family circles to encourage positive behaviour, wholistic wellbeing and to address intergenerational experiences of violence, each tailored to the individual and family’s needs. The program will guide children in recognizing violence and gain the understanding that violence is not a normal aspect of life. Through personal support and cultural resources, the program provides children with education and knowledge to help on their healing journey and promote optimal levels of understanding, reasoning and daily success after violence has occurred.
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Shall possess post-secondary diploma in Indigenous social work or related field and/or 2 years of relevant experience
▪ Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence and the relationship to child welfare.
▪ Strong understanding of the Child and Family Services Act and Ontario Children’s Aid Societies, with particular emphasis on how they impact Indigenous families.
▪ Must possess skills and experience in presenting educational workshops and facilitating groups.
▪ Self-motivated, able to schedule and prioritize work.
▪ Good judgment, adaptability and willingness to learn.
▪ Willingness to work flexible hours.
▪ Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and community members.
▪ Ability to work under pressure.

Part Time Medical Transportation Driver/Friendly Visitor
(Life Long Care and Aging at Home Programs)
STATUS: Contract, Part Time, 25 hours/week, 5 hours/day
SALARY: $24,245/yr – $32,799/yr plus vacation pay
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position is accountable to the Executive Director.
PURPOSE: This position provides medical transportation for the elderly, and chronically ill clients locally and out of town within a 1,000 km radius round trip three(3) days/week and will provide friendly visiting/companionship to Indigenous seniors/elders 55 years of age and older who present with complex care needs and for those seniors who are aging with general wellness two(2) days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately, including ability to read and interpret road signs in English;
• Minimum 3 years driving experience and clean drivers abstract updated annually;
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• Ability to establish effective professional relationships with clients, co-workers, and upper level staff and employees;
• Ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports;
• Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s);
• Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and ability to perform minor vehicle repairs;
• Skilled in reasoning skills to interpret policies and procedures, maps, and route directions;
• Experience working with seniors, and transporting persons with disabilities;
