Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

STATUS: Full time (35 hours per week)
SALARY: $40,622 – $54,964/year
POSITION SUMMARY: The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist answers and directs
incoming phone calls, greets and directs visitors of the Centre to appropriate staff, processes
and logs incoming correspondence and provides administrative assistance to the Executive
Director.
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist reports directly to the Executive
Director.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be knowledgeable about the mandate of the North BayIndigenous Friendship Centre
  • Graduate from an Office Administration program or 3+ years of experience working in an
    office/administrative role
  • Must be competent in MS-Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent typing and proofreading skills
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to work well under pressure, meet and exceed deadlines and sometimes perform
    “rush orders”
  • Flexible in respect to working overtime hours when the workload requires it
  • Adaptable to changes in processes and orders
  • Willingness to learn new computer systems
  • Able to work alone with little supervision
  • Ability to speak Ojibway or Cree would be an asset.
  • Driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle

Akwe:GO Worker

JOB POSTING – External/internal

Status: Permanent, full time, 35 hrs/week
Salary: $45,773 – $61,916
Accountability: This position is accountable to the Executive Director
Position Overview:
The purpose of the Akwe:GO program is to provide support and guidance within a cultural framework for children aged 7-12 who are at risk for specific negative behaviours and outcomes as a result of their circumstances in life. The goal is to be able to foster abilities to make healthy choices.
Qualifications:
• Minimum Social Service diploma and/or 3-5 years relevant work experience
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and language.
• Knowledge of social, cultural and recreational needs and interests of children and youth.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent facilitation skills.
• Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous youth.
• Ability to meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
• Good time management and planning skills.
• A valid driver’s licence and provide a drivers abstract
• Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate
• Safe Food Handler certificate.
• Criminal records check/vulnerable person check.

Ability to speak Ojibway or Cree would be an asset.

Friendly Visitor
(Lifelong Care and Aging at Home Programs)


STATUS: Contract, Part Time – 10 hours per week (2 days/week)
SALARY: $18.65/hour plus vacation pay
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports to the Lifelong Care Worker(s) and is accountable to the Executive Director.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Friendly Visitor provides companionship to Indigenous Seniors/Elders 55 years of age and older who present with complex care needs and for those seniors who are aging with general wellness. Regular visits will stimulate physical and mental health, maintain or restore faith in human dignity and worth, and reassure clients that they are members of the community and are not forgotten. Friendly visits may take place in client’s homes, nursing facilities, hospitals or other sites approved by the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. The Friendly Visitor will also provide security checks to determine that clients are not in crisis or at risk of harm. This service may be provided by a visit to the home, by telephone or other means.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Experience working with seniors and people with health issues.
•Ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports.
•Excellent interpersonal skills.
•Warm and caring personality.
•Very reliable and punctual; ·
•Current CPR & First Aid certification and ability to administer First Aid and CPR.
•Clean, courteous, friendly, and respectful.
•Experience working with Indigenous people an asset.
•Ability to hold information in the strictest confidence.

Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract, have reliable transportation and proof of $2M liability insurance.

Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check
