Addictions and Mental Health Systems Navigator

The Indigenous Addictions and Mental Health Systems Navigator program combines traditional and mainstream programs and services to help improve Indigenous health outcomes and reduce family violence in Indigenous families. Urban Indigenous communities and Friendship Centres across Ontario have consistently identified challenges to accessing services for mental health and addictions. The current systems that are in place are fragmented and often inconsistent with Indigenous approaches to building and sustaining good mental health and responses to mental distress; while there are many mental health programs and services offered to the urban Indigenous population in Ontario, these supports are largely uncoordinated. This program aims to resolve these issues and improve access to these services for urban Indigenous individuals and their families.
