RECEPTION/OFFICE INTERN
STATUS: Full time, contract, (35 hours per week), duration of 52 weeks.
Apatisiwin Employment & Training funded contract
SALARY: $20/hour plus vacation pay
POSITION SUMMARY: The Reception/Office Intern answers and directs incoming phone calls, greets and directs visitors of the Centre to appropriate staff, processes and logs incoming and outgoing correspondence and performs related reception and office support tasks.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports directly to the Executive Director and/or designate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently collecting EI benefits, or has collected EI benefits in the last 5 years
- Must be knowledgeable on the mandate of the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
- Graduate from an Office Administration program or seeking experience working in an office/reception role
- Must be competent in MS-Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong typing and proofreading skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Able to work well under pressure, meet and exceed deadlines and sometimes perform “rush orders”
- Flexible in respect to working overtime hours when the workload requires it
- Adaptable to changes in processes and orders
- Able to work alone with little supervision
- Ability to speak Ojibway or Cree would be an asset.

Apatisiwin Employment Counsellor – Open Until Filled
STATUS: Permanent/Fulltime (35 hours/week)
This is a vacant position.
SALARY: $45,773 – $61,916 per year
PURPOSE: The Apatisiwin Employment Counsellor will be responsible for servicing adult and youth clients, by supporting training, education and back to work in the urban area of North Bay.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma and/or 2-4 years’ experience in related field
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Able to advocate on behalf of clients or participants of the Apatisiwin Program.
- Ability to work in collaboration with internal/external agencies.
- Strong knowledge of urban Indigenous issues and needs, and experience working with urban Indigenous individuals.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, reporting databases, and related technology
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Maintains personal and professional integrity, and handles confidential information with discretion
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract, and access to reliable access to a vehicle.
- Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
- Criminal record check is required with a vulnerable persons check
- Ability to work flexible hours
