The purpose of the Indigenous Education Worker position is to enhance urban Indigenous control over learning and improve Indigenous student well-being. This position will improve coordination of, and access to, Indigenous learning opportunities for Indigenous learners in Friendship Centre communities. It will increase recognition of Indigenous expertise and knowledge systems in Friendship Centre’s, support the accreditation of Indigenous student learning in community, and strengthen pathways between Indigenous and public education system in ways that will transform Indigenous relationships to public systems.
